Speak Up For Safety – No More Zero Star Cars

Democratising Car Safety A Road Map For Safer Vehicles

In a new policy statement published today (16) Global NCAP strongly applauds the clear recommendations in the proposed Brasilia Declaration of the 2nd Global High Level Conference on Road Safety, particularly that: “all new motor vehicles, meet applicable minimum regulations for occupant and other road users protection, with seat belts, air bags and active safety systems such as anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and electronic stability control (ESC) fitted as standard.”

David Ward, Global NCAP Secretary General said,

“The Brasilia Declaration* makes a vitally important contribution to the Decade of Action and the UN’s Global Goals. The recommendations on road safety represent the strongest ever global commitments made to road and vehicle safety. By adopting these policies the UN is challenging us all to speak up for safety and democratise the use of vehicle technologies that can help us move towards a world eventually free from road traffic fatalities.”

* The Brasilia Declaration is to be adopted in the closing session of the 2nd Global High Level Conference on Road Safety on November 19th
