IIHS Wins UN Global Road Safety Film Festival Award For Best Film On Safe And Smart Vehicles

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has won the prestigious UN Global Road Safety Film Festival Award in the Safe and Smart vehicles category. The award winning IIHS film captures the imagination of children’s perspective of how safe cars can be and then shows how this is becoming a reality. The IIHS is one of the worlds most advanced vehicle research centres funded by the US insurance industry. Their mission is to inform the consumer about how the safety performance of vehicles compare in state of the art crash tests and other safety assessments. The film tracks the evolution of vehicle safety from crashworthiness (i.e. how well a vehicle protects its occupants in the event of a crash) to also include crash avoidance technologies (e.g. technologies such as electronic stability control and autonomous emergency braking that can #stopthecrash from happening at all). The IIHS for more than 50 years has been a pioneer for creating a market for vehicle safety.
